main-qimg-7490f1fc922a248320de229c0420afe3-c On July 5th, 2016 Alton Sterling was gunned down by police at a service station in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Later causing uproar across the nation. On July 7th, 2016, five Dallas police officers were killed in Downtown Dallas. Killed under sniper fire by suspect, Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, who also injured nine others. As a result, the prior two incidents have been the highlight of summer 2016 for all the wrong reasons.

Black Lives Matter (BLM) has been in protest across the country the past few years. All summer long there has been a demand in change to the justice system. The system has been institutionalized since America was established as its own entity. Affecting everyone in some way, the gap has often been between the very rich and the very poor. However, the main focus has begun to take heavy fire in 2016 for race relations. We ask ourselves, are BLM really a civil rights group, or are they a justice group bringing matrimony to the dead souls. Souls who have died in the custody of police. The conversation can go either way.

I do know this; police officers across the country are being labeled as “killers.” Without playing “Good Cop, Bad Cop” there is currently a strong hatred for our people in blue. If you just hate the police in general, remember at the end of the day they are people too. They have jobs to support themselves and their families. The only difference is they are serving their communities to protect and serve the people. Rather than label a cop, you should thank one, every one that you encounter because what keeps you safe at home, work or wherever is more than just a ADT security system.

You can sit there, read this, and draw your own conclusion on how you feel about these events as a whole, but keep in mind, the truth will set you free. Go ahead and express yourself below, it won’t hurt. 😉     Fire Axes Logo
